How can we help?

Email us at support@usechukka.com. A real person reads every message. It helps to include your macOS version and Chukka's version (Chukka menu → About Chukka).

Getting started

  1. Click Clients at the bottom right and add each client with their hourly rate.
  2. Click + (or press N) to add a project and choose its client.
  3. Select the project and press the big play button, or the Space bar. Press it again to stop. Each start and stop is saved as a session.

With nothing selected, the play button resumes the project you worked on last.

Fixing a session

Double-click a project to see all its sessions. You can change start and end times, delete a session, or add time you forgot to track with Add Time Manually.

Idle time and long sessions

If you step away while the clock runs, Chukka asks what to do when you're back: remove the time you were away, stop the clock at the moment you left, or keep it. If the clock runs for hours without a break, Chukka checks in. Both can be adjusted or turned off in Settings.

Billing and invoicing

Backups and moving to a new Mac

Chukka saves a backup every day and keeps the last 30. To go back to one, choose File → Restore from Backup…. You can undo a restore with Z.

To move to a new Mac, quit Chukka and copy the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Chukka to the same place on the new Mac. (In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and paste that path.) Migration Assistant and Time Machine bring it across automatically too.

Importing from another app

Export your time entries as CSV from Toggl Track, Clockify or Harvest, then choose File → Import Time Entries in Chukka. Existing clients and projects are matched by name, and entries you already have are skipped. After importing, check the hourly rates of any new clients.
